Troy Deeney Bad thinking about Steve Cooper if Leicester could lost to Southampton
Writing in his BBC Team of the Week column, Troy Deeney admitted that he believed Steve Cooper would’ve been sacked if Leicester lost to Southampton on Saturday.
“I genuinely believe that had Leicester lost at Southampton their manager would have been sacked,” Deeney wrote.
“Cooper made changes at half-time, like he did at Arsenal, and in a few other games, and his team brought themselves back into it.
“It was a massive performance from his side in the second half to come from 2-0 down to win – a monstrous task that they took on with broad shoulders. Simply excellent.”
Deeney awarded Cooper the Manager of the Week award.
Cooper must take learnings from Southampton game
Whilst City evidently went home with all three points on Saturday, it certainly wasn’t a convincing display at all.
In fact, Cooper was rescued by the brilliance of Abdul Fatawu – who absolutely has to start against Nottingham Forest on Friday.
Cooper hasn’t started Stephy Mavididi and Fatawu together all season and that simply must change if he is to keep his job
