Tottenham continues to believe that its 23-year-old player will grow stronger.

Ryan Sessegnon’s time at Tottenham has been nothing short of a disaster.

The 23-year-old was one of the hottest properties in English football when he signed from Fulham back in 2019, but after a myriad of injury issues and being forced to change position every other week, it really hasn’t clicked for Sessegnon at Spurs.

There’s been plenty of chat about the left-footer leaving Spurs in the near future, but according to Mike McGrath, speaking on Last Word on Spurs, Tottenham aren’t yet ready to give up on Sessegnon, stating that people believe there is still talent there to be used.

McGrath shared what he knows about the former Fulham man.

“With Sessegnon, I mentioned this to you off air, there was a bit of interest from France, but it’s not materialised, when he came into senior football at 16 he was so talented at football. Nobody has said to me that they think his Spurs career is over it’s not ‘what are we going to do with Ryan Sessegnon?’ I still believe that people think there’s talent there to be used,” McGrath said.

Has to step up

As positive as it is to hear that Sessegnon is still rated at Spurs, it has to be said that he has to start stepping up soon.

Sessegnon, quite simply, hasn’t shown enough at Tottenham, and with his contract coming to an end in 18 months’ time, he’s playing for his future at this point.

Sadly, Sessegnon hasn’t done enough at Spurs to earn an extension, and he has to step up if he’s to have a long-term future at the club.

Whether or not Sessegnon can perform remains to be seen, but he needs to do something soon if he’s going to have any sort of long-term future at Tottenham.
