Newcastle United Boss Unhappy Of Weekend Crazy Story

on

Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has navigated one of the most disruptive seasons at St James’ Park in recent memory.

The number of injuries, the nature of said injuries and of course, our marquee summer signing being slapped with a 10-month ban have all played their part in what has been an eventful, yet rarely enjoyable season so far.

Yet despite all that, Eddie Howe finds his side still in with a shout of achieving European football this season. That’s a remarkable achievement. Let’s also not forget that we had a decent run in the cups despite everything working against us there too, and were it not for VAR, we may well have made it out of the Champions League ‘group of death’.

Why then, would Italian outlet Il Messaggero run a story claiming that Newcastle have offered Howe’s job to Maurizio Sarri?

Sarri is ‘evaluating’ offers from Newcastle and West Ham

Former Chelsea boss, Sarri has been out of work since leaving Lazio last month but has not been short of offers having already turned down offers from Sevilla and Nottingham Forest.

Now, Il Messaggero claims that Newcastle and West Ham have both approached Sarri’s new agent with offers that the 65-year-old is currently evaluating.

West Ham is slightly believable because, for some reason, David Moyes’ job is once again under threat at the Hammers despite him doing another solid job after leading them to Europa Conference League glory last year

Eddie Howe is going nowhere

But Eddie Howe? Come on. Other than Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, there can’t be any manager in the Premier League on more solid footing right now, surely?

Newcastle’s board love him, they appreciate what he’s managed to do this season in spite of all of the obstacles that have been thrown at him, and the fans adore him too – for the most part, anyway, but you can’t please everybody.

We’re not saying that Sarri wouldn’t be a good appointment, but now is absolutely not the time for change. Eddie Howe is far from finished at this club, and we still back him to deliver silverware for the Toon Army!
