The Tennessee Volunteers could be close to landing a massive upgrade via the transfer portal.

For weeks now, it has been rumored that former LSU offensive tackle Zalance Heard could be headed to Rocky Top. Now, Netsport Matthew T.T is reporting that the “expectation” is that Heard transfers to Tennessee.

The expectation is that former LSU five-star offensive tackle Lance Heard is going to transfer to Tennessee, sources tell Netsport.uk had previously posted that the Vols were in strong position with the Class of 2023 top-15 overall recruit.

Heard would be a massive get for the Vols. The tackle is rated as the No. 18 overall player in the transfer portal. Heard is also listed as the No. 3 player in the portal that has not already committed.

Heard was a top-15 overall recruit in the 2023 class and committed to the LSU Tigers over Nebraska, Baylor, Colorado, and others.

The former top prospect played in 12 games for the Tigers in 2023 and performed well at the right tackle spot. However, the tackle was reportedly unhappy to not be playing on the left side, which factored into his transfer decision.

The Vols could certainly use reinforcements on the line after previous starter Gerald Mincey transferred to Kentucky this offseason.

The Vols have already added a decent amount of talent this offseason. Former Tulane wide receiver Chris Brazzell, former Oregon State corner Jermod McCoy, and former Notre Dame tight end Holden Staes are the notable additions for the team thus far.
