Birmingham City’s Offer Of £2.6m “Rejected” By EPL Club By Their Star Player, Coach In Silence
Birmingham City launch surprise first bid for £2.6m star Chelsea once enquired to sign
Blues have bid around €3 million (£2.6 million) in an attempt to sign Portimonense’s Filipe Relvas, but more cash must be coughed to land the defender, according to a report in Portugal.
claims Birmingham saw a bid immediately rejected by Portimonense for Relvas. It’s stated that the second-tier Portuguese outfit were unsatisfied by the amount offered and are seeking an improved sum.
It’s unknown just how much Portimonense want for Relvas but it appears they are in no rush to sell their man. Now 24 years of age, the central defender made 32 appearances in the Portuguese top division last term before being relegated.
Relvas has been a regular for several years as he featured a combined 57 times in the two seasons preceding last. Remaining a key man and with just under two years left on his current contract, it makes sense that Portimonense aren’t budging.
Chelsea were once linked with signing Relvas, as French publication reported last August that the Blues had submitted an official enquiry to sign him. Wolfsburg, Benfica and Besiktas were also said to be interested, with scouts from all three clubs keeping a close eye on the defender last campaign.
