Rumour Mongering: Liverpool Target Boca Holding Mid Ezequiel Fernández - The Liverpool Offside

Spurs are almost guaranteed to sign a new midfielder before the start of next season. Conor Gallagher has been heavily linked, while Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in James Garner as well. Fernandez is now the latest name to come out of the rumour mill.

Tottenham want to sign Ezequiel Fernandez

South America has always produced a number of top-quality young players, and Ezequiel Fernandez could be the next big thing to come out of Argentina.

The 21-year-old has been in the news over the last two months. Liverpool have been linked with a move to sign him, while Arsenal were also said to be keen last month.

Now, Tottenham are interested in him.

Boca Noticias claimed yesterday that Spurs are eager to sign Fernandez in the summer.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are said to be willing to go all out for his signature – just like they were prepared to do for Valentin Barco, who ended up joining Brighton last month.

Boca Juniors aren’t too keen to sell Fernandez – he is one of their key players. However, the youngster will enter the final 18 months of his contract this summer, and if a suitable offer comes in, they are likely to let him go

Alexis Mac Allister is a big fan of Tottenham-linked Fernandez

Ezequiel Fernandez has become a household name in Argentina after producing some brilliant performances for Boca Juniors.

The 21-year-old is a massive talent, with Anfield Index branding him as a midfield ‘destroyer’ in their scouting report in November last year.

Liverpool star Alexis Mac Allister is a huge fan of Fernandez as well, having publicly raved about him.

When he was still a Brighton player last year, Mac Allister told TyC Sports: “If you ask me a little more about my style, there is a player that I really like and that is Equi Fernández. He is a player who has all the conditions to reach Europe one day and I hope that can happen to him.

“He is a player that I like a lot, he understands the game a lot. He is always prepared to receive the ball, he plays with both legs, he can play as a five, as an inside player… he is a player who has certain very good conditions and, if Brighton asked me, I would say his name.”
