spurs head in a positive conversation with genoa

Reports out of Italy suggest that Tottenham Hotspur and Genoa held important talks last night to thrash out the details of the proposed transfer for Radu Dragusin.

As Tottenham’s need for a new centre half intensifies in the wake of Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero‘s injuries, the pursuit of Radu Dragusin has escalated accordingly.

Dragusin was mooted as a potential target for Spurs around a month ago (Telegraph) and Fabrizio Romano has covered the story intensely ever since, with a report that the Lilywhites had sent a bid to Genoa, and that the player himself was happy to move to North London.

Earlier this week, Romano revealed the transfer of Dragusin should be completed ‘very soon’ and that the two clubs simply had to agree on a fee.

Speaking to TV Play (as relayed by journalist Marco Giordano), Dragusin’s agent claimed his client would be happy to stay in Italy, but explained that an offer of between €25-30m (£21.5-25.9m) should be enough to strike a deal.

Spurs and Genoa deep in discussion over Dragusin

Now, it seems Genoa are pushing for a higher fee closer to €35m (£30m), and a report from La Repubblica (via Napoli Magazine) claims Spurs and Genoa have sat down to get to the bottom of the matter and try to find common ground in order to get the deal done.

At the time of the report being released, it was said the crunch talks would be taking place in the “next few hours” to settle things one way or another.

Spurs Web Opinion

Genoa are clearly trying to hustle Spurs at the last minute to get a little extra cash out of Daniel Levy, knowing full well just how keen we are to get this deal done quickly. It’s a tricky line to tread, because we do want to get the transfer sorted, but we can’t be bullied into paying more.
