Postecoglou ‘really wants’ player transfer update
Timo Werner has been left out of RB Leipzig’s squad for today’s match against St. Gallen as he nears a move to Tottenham.
That’s according to journalist Philipp Hinze, who reports that the transfer ‘is being prepared’ and the two clubs are negotiating the final details.
The journalist reports that Tottenham and Leipzig are finalising negotiations over the loan fee for the striker’s return to London and a possible purchase option being included in the deal, with the issue of his salary have already been resolved.
According to his and Sky’s information, Tottenham will pay the entirety of Werner’s wages during his loan spell, which will last until the summer.
Werner has already reached a verbal agreement with Spurs on the move and if things to go to plan, he could even fly to London tomorrow.
Tottenham are keen to get him in as soon as possible and the deal is being pushed forward by Ange Postecoglou, who is a ‘big advocate’ of the transfer and ‘really wants’ Werner in his squad for the remainder of the season.
Thus a deal is progressing quickly, with only final details now being worked on after the biggest hurdle, the striker’s salary, was leapt over with relative ease thanks to Tottenham’s willingness to pay.
