Wilson’s loan bid from Atletico Madrid was turned down.

Newcastle have turned down a loan enquiry from Atletico Madrid for Callum Wilson.

According to the netsport.uk, the Magpies have rejected the advances of the Spanish club but could be tempted to sell should a permanent offer materialise.

Eddie Howe‘s side are vulnerable for offers for their top stars as they look to comply with profit and sustainability rules.

Newcastle CEO Darren Eales recently suggested that the club may need to sell some players, leading to interest from some of Europe’s top clubs.

Since joining the club in September 2020, Wilson has scored 46 goals in 102 appearances for the Tynesiders.

Having previously played under Howe at Bournemouth, the 31-year-old is a valued member of Newcastle’s first team but could be dispensable if the price is right.

Wilson’s situation is similar to that of Kieran Trippier, who has firmly on the radar of Bayern Munich.

Trippier has verbally agreed to a move to Germany with Bayern now aiming to thrash out a deal with Newcastle.

But much like the interest in Wilson, any offer would need to match Newcastle’s valuation for one of their star men.
