Something Happen!!, Would Daniel Farke New Decision affect All Leeds united
Daniel Farke has decided to give the Leeds United first team a “proper break” during the international break, according to Beren Cross.
The Leeds Live journalist reported via X on Friday (11 October) that the Whites squad are expected to return to Thorp Arch for training today, a week after their draw with Sunderland last Friday (4 October).
Several members of Farke’s first-team squad remain away with their national sides at this stage, but those who didn’t receive call-ups will now be back in training ahead of the clash with Sheffield United at Elland Road on Friday (18 October).
What is happened to Leeds United and Elland Road ahead of the international break?
While some will be surprised to hear that Farke hasn’t had his first-team squad out on the training pitch during the international break, a rest between fixtures may be exactly what the doctor ordered for this side.
Leeds United have been down to their bare bones in recent weeks as a result of several injuries to the first-team squad and while they have managed to keep picking up results, they have looked leggy at times, particularly late on in games.
A week off after that miserable draw to Sunderland will have given the players, including Illan Meslier, plenty of time to both physically and mentally switch off before getting back up to speed over the course of the next week.
Whether or not that was the right decision on Farke’s part will ultimately be clear when the clash with Sheffield United rolls around. If Leeds look bright and full of energy again, it has worked. If they look sloppy and off of the boil, the manager’s decision-making will be questioned.
Hopefully, the latter is what plays out against the Blades and Leeds will get back to winning ways after the international break. If they want to mount a serious promotion push, these are the sort of matches they have to be claiming all three points from.
