Novak Djokovic was photographed exercising hard in the Spanish city of Marbella ahead of the Madrid Open, which starts next week. The Serb is the fourth seed in the tournament, following Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, and Taylor Fritz.

Djokovic’s 2025 season has been mixed. He has displayed glimpses of brilliance from time to time, but his performances have often been disappointing. Despite physical limitations, he successfully defeated Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. However, he was forced to retire against Alexander Zverev in the semifinals.

The Serb superstar faced early round exits at the Qatar Open and the BNP Paribas Open with poor performances. He regained form by reaching the Miami Open final, where he was upstaged by teenage sensation Jakub Mensik. However, yet again, Djokovic put up another poor performance, losing to Alejandro Tabilo in his opening match at the Monte-Carlo Masters. The poor performance was also due to an eye infection, which was hindering him during the play.

One of Djokovic’s fan pages on X published photos of the Serb practicing on the clay courts of Marbella, southern Spain. He was concentrated and moved well on the surface, indicating his resolve and return to full fitness ahead of the Madrid Open.

Djokovic has not won a Tour-level championship since 2023, and he will be aiming for his 100th trophy in Madrid, making him only the third male player to reach that milestone.
