The ‘BNP Paribas Open’ in Indian Wells is one of the most prestigious events on the calendar, and many consider it the ‘fifth Grand Slam’. Coco Gauff, one of the tournament’s most anticipated players, is hoping to achieve a prestigious outcome in front of her local fans.

The American star took advantage of the imminent start of the Indian Wells tournament to move to Los Angeles, where she attended the Oscars ceremony by appearing on the red carpet with a very elegant outfit.

“I play tennis so I’m not used to this glam. But it’s nice to get dressed for the day” – she said on the red carpet.

Gauff is floundering in 2025

The world No.3 hasn’t been very impressive in the opening two months of the 2025 season and will need to step up her game in March to achieve the best possible results in Indian Wells and Miami.

Coco was ousted by Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, which was not a bad result but perhaps disappointing for a player of her calibre who had planned to kick off 2025 in style.

Gauff had a chance to redeem himself at the prestigious WTA 1000 in Doha and Dubai last month, but her run ended immediately in both cases against Marta Kostyuk and McCartney Kessler respectively.

Obviously, it is too early to discuss a crisis, but the next two events will be critical to understanding Cori’s goals this season.

The American player has been unable to capitalise on a moment in which Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek are not playing their best tennis for a variety of reasons, which is a further disappointment for a champion who wants to the top spot in the WTA rankings.

The world number three recently mustered the confidence to speak out about the tricky case involving Elena Rybakina and her coach Stefano Vukov.

“I think it’s right for WTA to protect its players. Many victims don’t even know they are victims, it has happened several times in the world of tennis” – explained Coco.
