Unexpected Rocco Vata Report Surfaces as Celtic Makes a Late Entry

Celtic is set to engage in contract discussions with young forward Rocco Vata, according to NetSport.uk reporter George.

The youngster is reportedly in talks with Italian clubs Bologna and Como.

Vata, whose current contract is set to expire in the summer, has been a key figure in Celtic’s Lowland League team. Despite his performance, including scoring 10 goals this season, Vata has observed his teammates Ben Summer, Ben McPherson, and Mackenzie Carse secure loan moves to Championship sides, yet he’s still stuck in the fifth tier of Scottish football.

Vata has been hesitant to commit to a new contract without a clear pathway for development, while Celtic has been reluctant to sanction a loan for a player nearing free agency.

The interest from Italy, which has been a consistent theme this season, might not have been as attractive to Vata as initially thought. This scenario, coupled with the absence of Daizen Maeda and Oh Hyeon-gyu due to their participation in the Asian Cup, opens up potential opportunities for Vata at Celtic in the coming weeks, especially in the Scottish Cup match against Buckie Thistle.

Celtic’s decision to initiate contract talks indicates a renewed interest in retaining the young forward. This move could potentially resolve the impasse between the club and the player, offering Vata a clearer development pathway and solidifying his future at the club.
