Truth Exposed! Another Oilers Star Player Broke Another Long “Standing” Record, What To Know..

Appropriately, Connor McDavid becomes 99th player in NHL history to score 1,000 points

Connor McDavid reached the first major individual milestone of his historic career on Thursday.

During the Edmonton Oilers’ matchup against the Nashville Predators, McDavid scored on a two-on-one break with Leon Draisaitl, burying a one-timer from the right circle.

The tally was McDavid’s 1,000th career point, making him the fourth fastest player in NHL history to hit the mark.

McDavid’s goal was scored on goaltender Scott Wedgewood and tied the game at one, 2:44 into the second period. The normally stoic McDavid flashed a huge smile and was mobbed along the corner boards after scoring.

The 27-year-old centerman also celebrated at the Oilers bench, where he exchanged fist bumps with his excited teammates.

McDavid’s father, Brian, was in the stands at Rogers Center for his son’s big moment.

McDavid got to 1,000 points in his 659th NHL game after scoring 341 goals and notching 659 assists. Only Wayne Gretzky (424 games), Mario Lemieux (513), and Mike Bossy (656) managed to achieve the milestone in fewer games.

The Edmonton captain is the fourth Oilers player to hit 1,000 points while wearing white, blue, and orange, joining Wayne Gretzky (Dec. 19, 1984), Mark Messier (Jan. 13, 1991), and Jari Kurri (Jan. 2, 1990). McDavid, after so many comparisons to Gretzky throughout his career, is appropriately the 99th player in NHL history to hit four digits in points.

If McDavid can keep his pace and play into his late 30s, he could become the second player of all-time to reach 2,000 points. The only other player to do so is Gretzky, who posted 2,857 during his Hockey Hall of Fame career. The next closest player to Gretzky is Jaromir Jagr with 1,927.
