Tottenham would like to sign this wonderful player
Tottenham Hotspur have a real history of signing players from the EFL.
These players haven’t always worked out well, with the likes of Jack Clarke, Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Ryan Sessegnon in recent years not exactly turning out as expected after signing for Spurs.
However, there are gems to pluck from the lower league. Dele Alli was remarkable for Tottenham for quite some time after arriving from MK Dons, while James Maddison is arguably Tottenham’s best player after arriving from the recently relegated Leicester City in the summer.
Now, Spurs are supposedly keen on another Leicester City player.
Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Kasey McAteer is a player that Tottenham really like

George shared what he knows about the ‘wonderful’ attacker.
“The other player Tottenham are looking at, a different type of player to the ones we have mentioned is Kasey McAteer at Leicester, they really like him. He started well for Leicester, but then he got an injury, with Leicester flying they’re likely to get promotion to the Premier League. I’m not sure anything is possible there in 2024 just because he’s in the right place for his development,” Jacobs said.
Be patient
This is an exciting rumour, and this would be a big move for McAteer, but we would urge the 22-year-old to be patient here.
He’s only just had a bit of a breakthrough season at Leicester, and making such a big jump so quickly could affect his development.
You only have to look at the likes of Jack Clarke to see that a move to a big club from a Championship side isn’t always the best idea at a young age.
McAteer has time on his side, and right now, his main focus should be gaining experience and improving his own game, not making a big move to a club like Tottenham.
