tottenham set to welcome Ajax wonderkid Gabriel Misehouy
The 18-year-old midfielder has scored six goals and provided three assists in 11 appearances for Ajax’s Under-21s so far during the current Keuken Kampioen Divisie campaign.
Misehouy has made an impression on the international stage, scoring previously for the Netherlands’ Under 16s and 17s, before making his debut for his nation at Under-19 level on 11 September 2023.
His current contract with the Dutch giants expires in June 2024, and a recruitment source with links to Dutch football has told Tottenham News that the two parties have not yet agreed upon a new deal.
As a result, Tottenham News understands that Spurs could look to take advantage of Misehouy’s contract situation and make a move for the attacking midfielder.
As per Fabrizio Romano via his official X account (27 December 2023), Tottenham have also been credited with an interest in Misehouy’s Ajax teammate, Belgian midfielder Stanis Idumbo Muzambo.
However, Tottenham News understands that according to various scouts, Misehouy is the player better suited to the North London club, and could therefore be who they opt to sign instead.
Ange Postecoglou requires a midfielder with attacking flair and an ability to play further forward up the pitch, something Misehouy has demonstrated his ability to do this season, playing four times in an attacking-midfield role and once on the left wing.
Spurs are short of midfield options at this moment in time, with Yves Bissouma, James Maddison and Pape Matar Sarr all unavailable, and the club could therefore benefit from an arrival at Hotspur Way this month.
In other Tottenham News, the club’s women’s team have kicked off 2024 in style by bringing two international stars to the club.
