Tottenham injury update:details and return dates
Tottenham endured a nightmare weekend heading into the international break.
While last week’s 4-0 win away at Aston Villa handed Spurs the advantage in the race for the top four in the Premier League, Ange Postecoglou saw his side thrashed at Fulham.
Captain Heung-min Son slammed the “attitude” and “performance” of his teammates at Craven Cottage, while Postecoglou admitted Spurs lacked “competitiveness”.
Many of Postecoglou’s side will jet off to represent their countries over the international break before Spurs are back in action against Luton at the end of this month.
The absence of Micky van de Ven was notable against Fulham and, with that in mind, here’s a look at the latest Tottenham injuries.
Micky van de Ven
The defender was forced off against Villa with a hamstring injury and duly missed the loss to Fulham.
Postecoglou, however, is confident the Dutchman will not miss much action after the international break.
“Micky, nothing too significant,” he said on Friday.
“He’ll miss tomorrow, but we’re quite confident with the international break that he won’t miss much more. I think we took him off at the right time to be honest.”
Potential return date: Unknown
Manor Solomon
Summer signing Manor Solomon has mustered only six appearances this season and last month suffered a setback following surgery in his right knee.
Solomon is yet to return to team training, as Postecoglou confirmed earlier this month.
“Manor is sort of progressing but is still not anywhere near rejoining the group. He still has a bit of a way to go,” he said on March 1.
Potential return date: Unknown
Back-up goalkeeper Fraser Forster is currently sidelined with a fractured foot and isn’t expected back until April at least.
Potential return date: April/May 2024
Ryan Sessegnon
Ryan Sessegnon is expected to miss the rest of the season after suffering another hamstring injury. The full-back has spoken of his devastation at needing surgery.
“I’ve been down this road before,” he wrote on Instagram.
“I’ll pick myself up, stay head strong and begin my recovery in the best way possible.
“Having been through an operation and the recovery on my other hamstring last year, and knowing how strong that hamstring is now, I know this is the best solution to put an end to the reoccurring issues.”
