The 21-year-old left back arrived at Spurs from Udinese last summer and instantly slotted into the squad in North London, proving himself an exciting talent. He’s impressed in his debut Premier League season, scoring two goals and providing three assists across 28 games.
Udogie was recently hit by disastrous news; he was forced to undergo an operation last week after suffering a left quadriceps injury in training, an issue that’ll keep him sidelined until the pre-season. As such, the 21-year-old Italian will not be available for the upcoming European Championship.
Speaking in a press conference via Football.London, Postecoglou was asked about Udogie’s recent season-ending injury.
“Yeah, from the last game, a disappointing one for Destiny and for ourselves as well, because he’s been a big part of our year. It was just an unfortunate incident in training. He’s had the operation, it’s gone well, so hopefully it gives him time to have pre-season and get back into it. So, we’ll miss him.”
The Tottenham coach was then asked how the Italian full back suffered the injury.
“It was non-contact. He just went to have a strike at goal by himself and got the injury.”
Postecoglou also confirmed that Udogie would miss Euro 2024, responding “yeah, yeah” when asked.
