Tom English hits out at entitled Celtic fans live on BBC today as he names Rangers

Tom English has hit out against Celtic fans for a “sense of entitlement” amid a tight race with Rangers for the Scottish Premiership title.

The Hoops have claimed the top spot in nine out of the last 10 Scottish Premiership campaigns, with the Gers pipping their Old Firm rivals to the title during the 2020/21 season.

Following a victory over Ross County on Wednesday 14 February, Rangers have the chance to topple Celtic in the league, and the campaign looks to be going down the wire.

Speaking live on air via BBC Scotland’s Sportsound on Saturday, 17 February, English said: “I’m not going to generalise, but among some Celtic fans, there is a sense of entitlement.

“They don’t want a title race. In all the titles they have won, okay, Rangers interrupted them briefly, they have done so very easily. Some Celtic fans don’t like that there is a genuine title race now, and they’re reacting badly to it.

Rangers blow the title race wide open

The reaction from Celtic only means one thing – Rangers are a real threat to their title hopes this season. Under Michael Beale, the Gers looked to have already given up the Scottish Premiership title.

However, there has been an incredible shift since the arrival of Philippe Clement, and the two sides are now on the same number of points at the top of the table ahead of the weekend games.

Although the Belgian will be unlikely to be keeping tabs on the table, and more likely focusing on his team and what impacts they can make, Rangers fans have every right to be excited.

Rangers

Rangers have only lost one match since Philippe Clement arrived.

The league will surely come down to the next Old Firm derby, with neither team likely to trip up against any other opposition before the rivals meet at Ibrox in April.

Rangers are destined for some kind of success this season, with the opportunity to win the Scottish Premiership or even make an impact in the European League.
