This Is Not Faire! Exeter City Set For Huge “Windfall” From Jay Stansfield Sell-on Clause
Exeter City set for huge windfall from Jay Stansfield sell-on clause
Exeter City are set for a huge windfall after fellow League One club Birmingham City completed the signing of Fulham striker Jay Stansfield. The Blues completed the deal of the former Grecians academy product on deadline day, signing him to a seven-year deal.
While finalising their second signing of the night and 16th of the summer, Celtic’s Tomoki Iwata, the American-owned club – demoted from the Championship last season – then completed their 17th signing with the biggest deal yet. It is believed that they agreed to pay Fulham a fee in excess of £10m, plus bonuses if Blues are promoted, after the Premier League team had rejected an initial offer earlier on Friday.
Fulham will also profit from any future move due to a sell-on clause included in the agreement. Although the price officially remains “undisclosed”, it has undoubtedly shattered the League One transfer record. This was previously thought to be the £4m Sunderland paid to Wigan Athletic for Will Grigg five years ago.
