The newspaper covers how Santiago has been ‘growing exponentially
Brighton and Hove Albion have been told it will be ‘clause or nothing’ if they wish to sign Yellu Santiago from Getafe this summer.
That’s according to Marca, who say the Seagulls ‘follow closely’ behind the central midfielder ahead of the summer transfer window.
The newspaper covers how Santiago has been ‘growing exponentially’ for the Spanish side since his arrival in January this year and that has been drawing attention from outside of Spain.
Brighton are believed to have him on their agenda and are following his development closely as they continue their hunt for young talent to develop for the future.
Marca say there have been no contacts yet between the two clubs, but it has not been ruled out that Brighton could start talks with Getafe to find out what the player’s situation is.
It’s not the first time they’ve looked at the player, having taken notice of him when he was playing for Valencia in the Premier League International Cup last year. He impressed in that, and they’ve watched him ever since.
Despite a lack of contact, Getafe have set their stall out early and made it clear it will be ‘clause or nothing’ when it comes to a transfer.
The Spanish side intend to ‘sell very expensively’ when it comes to letting players go, particularly with Yellu, who is one of the cornerstones of the team moving forwards.
Thus, they’ll give Brighton a ‘forceful answer’ if they do come calling, pay the clause or the 19-year-old won’t be moving.
