The Everton manager acted cold to nottingham true complaint

Sean Dyche had little time for Nottingham Forest’s VAR complaints in Everton’s vital 2-0 Premier League victory at Goodison Park.

Almost as soon as the final whistle sounded Forest released a furious statement in which they revealed they had asked to have Stuart Attwell removed as the fixture’s VAR official – alleging he is a fan of relegation rivals Luton Town.

The Reds were angry that three penalty claims, all against the Toffees’ Ashley Young, had gone against them, with Gio Reyna and Callum Hudson-Odoi twice seeing appeals turned down. Reds boss Nuno Espirito Santo endorsed the feeling his side had been on the wrong end of all three decisions.

However, Dyche was not having any of it, arguing his side has had just as many calls go against them: “I don’t know about that for a team that has only had two penalties in the season so far,” Dyche told Sky Sports. “I am not going to start crying about penalties I can assure you, we have had plenty not given.

“VAR is there to do its job, they have voted it’s not a penalty, that’s the way it goes. I am not going to start crying about having knocks you know, we have had a few here this season. That baffles me if you are looking at the bigger picture of what we are working towards and what we are having to deal with. That’s the way it goes, we haven’t had them go for us.”

Dyche also revealed the early signs about striker Beto are positive after the striker was stretchered off towards the end of the game.

“It’s too early in the bigger picture of it but the early signs are very, very good, very positive, he had come round and he was speaking to the physios and the medical team. That’s very positive news at this early stage.

“Everyone reacted as quickly as possible, which I think is appropriate of course, we will have more news over the next 24 hours.”

The Everton boss was pleased with the manner of his team’s response to Monday night’s 6-0 hammering at Chelsea to secure a result that now puts them four points clear of Forest. Indeed he thinks they should be even further having had eight points deducted so far this season.

“That’s resilience as a footballer, resilience as a team, resilience as a manager, they are all the things you need. This is part of what we do, it’s a tough industry, it has its knocks, we have had a fair share this season without a doubt.

“That would be us mathematically safe on 38 points today – but we are not. There’s a sign of what we have been talking about making progress and I think we have but there’s still a lot of work to do.

The way that we dealt with it was very pleasing. Some big moments went for us today, especially with Jordan making a big save early on, two good strikes from distance going right in the corner and you win a game.”
