spurs to pay £10m-£15m for midfielder

Football Insider have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur would have to pay a fee of around £10m to £15m to land Blackburn Rovers starlet Adam Wharton next summer.

After breaking into Blackburn’s first-team last season, Wharton has established himself as a fixture in Jon Dahl Tomasson’s midfield this campaign and is turning a lot of heads with his displays in the Championship.

The 18-year-old is thought to be on the radar of several top-flight sides, including Tottenham’s, with 90min reporting back in November that the Lilywhites were scouting the youngster closely.

The report added that the likes of Brighton & Hove Albion, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United and Newcastle United were also keeping an eye on the teenager.

Spurs need to pay up to £15m to sign Adam Wharton

Football Insider have now claimed that even though Wharton is attracting interest from Premier League sides, Blackburn have no intention of letting the midfielder leave mid-season.

It is alleged that the Rovers will turn down any offers for the England Under-20 international this window but are bracing themselves up for a potential sale next summer.

The publication states that the Championship outfit would find it difficult to turn down an offer in the region of £10m to £15m for their academy graduate at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

The issue Tottenham might run into is that Wharton may prefer to use a mid-table Premier League side as a stepping stone rather than moving straight to a club like Spurs.

Perhaps Postecoglou would be able to persuade the 18-year-old that there is a realistic pathway to being a regular starter at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
