Shocking News: Lakers’ Head Coach got fired from the organization.

Despite leading the Los Angeles Lakers to the playoffs in both of his seasons as head coach, Darvin Ham was dismissed from his position.

Ham ended his Lakers tenure with a 54.9% win rate and a 9-12 playoff record. His departure came despite his contributions to the team’s recent successes.

Ham’s coaching prowess has not gone unnoticed, as he was approached by Mike Budenholzer to join his coaching staff with the Phoenix Suns. According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Ham declined the offer, opting to take a break after two demanding seasons with the Lakers.

Instead, the Suns retained David Fizdale from Frank Vogel’s staff, initially offering him a front office role before deciding to keep him on as an assistant coach under Budenholzer.

Ham’s decision to turn down the Suns’ offer does not stem from a lack of opportunity. He still has two years remaining on his contract with the Lakers, providing him with financial security and the luxury of time to consider his next move.

Given his track record and the interest from other franchises, it is likely that Ham will find another head coaching opportunity or a significant role as an assistant coach in the near future. His ability to lead teams to the playoffs and his experience in a high-pressure environment like the Lakers make him a valuable asset for any NBA team looking to bolster their coaching staff.
