Serious Reactions On what Leeds fans have done on social media recently

The 28-year-old has been forced to be patient since arriving on loan from Burnley on deadline day, with Archie Gray having continued to keep him out of the team at right-back.

He did earn his first start for the club at Chelsea on Wednesday but if his goal against Leicester is to be his one and only meaningful contribution while he is here, it will certainly live long in the memory.

Speaking on the latest episode of the Official Leeds United Podcast, Roberts says the fan reaction to his goal across social media has been like nothing he has ever experienced before at other clubs.

Roberts blown away by Leeds fans on social media

Julia Roberts is not really a 'Roberts', she says 'mind blown' after family tree tracing

He said: “It’s stupid to say but you post a photo on social media at my previous clubs and it’s brilliant, you get all the fans saying what they say and thanking you for scoring.

“But then I do it for Leeds and it blows up and it’s the most likes you have ever had. It just puts into perspective how many fans Leeds have got. It’s a bit mental to be honest.”

Social media can sometimes be a brutal place for a footballer but when things are going well, you can certainly gain confidence from it and clearly Roberts has felt that in the last few days.

Roberts may still have to be patient in anticipation of his first league start for Leeds, but having him on the bench shows the level of depth in the squad, considering he was the Championship’s best right-back last season.

Either way, there is no doubt that his character in the dressing room will have a big part to play over the coming weeks and when his chance does come, he just needs to take it, like against Leicester.
