West Ham United have missed out on signing Diego Gomez to Brighton, according to the Sunday Express

The Hammers were, apparently, interested in the 21-year-old midfielder, who has impressed for Inter Miami this season. However, Brighton have now won the race for the Paraguayan international, with the Seagulls ready to pay £15m for the player.

West Ham have been busy in the transfer market this summer, with the club signing a number of players, including  just yesterday the unveiling of Crysencio Summerville, with Niclas Fullkrug, and Guido Rodriguez expected early next week

However, the Hammers will be disappointed to miss out on Gomez, who is considered to be a bright prospect for the future.

Brighton’s signing of Gomez is a significant boost for the Seagulls, who are looking to build on their impressive performance in the Premier League last season. The Paraguayan midfielder will add depth and quality to the Brighton squad, and the club will be hoping that he can make an immediate impact.

West Ham will now have to focus on their other transfer targets, as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new Premier League season. The Hammers are still in the market for a new full-back and a central defender, and the club will be hoping to complete these acquisitions urgently in view of the defensive shortcomings apparent during pre-season.
