Ruud van Nistelrooy’s transfer plan is now clear after 15-touch Leicester City star was ‘way off it’ vs Fulham

A toxic atmosphere broke out at the King Power Stadium after Leicester City were beaten by Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

Supporters made their feelings towards Ruud van Nistelrooy known at full-time as Leicester City suffered their seventh league defeat in a row.

There were calls for Van Nistelrooy to be sacked while some fans chanted for Jon Rudkin to leave Leicester, seeing him as a figure who has played a defining role in their recent demise.

It was an all-round bad day at the office for the Foxes, who watched several of their stars struggle on the pitch and get outclassed by Fulham.

One of those individuals has been treading on thin ice recently and has perhaps been fortunate to keep his place in the lineup but now he must be dropped to the bench

Ruud van Nistelrooy must finally axe Jamie Vardy after Fulham loss

Jamie Vardy is a Leicester City stalwart, a legend of the club and someone the fans adore for the incredible 13 years of service he’s given.

But even the most loyal of Vardy supporters can accept the Englishman hasn’t been good enough for a while, and his poor run of form continued against Fulham.

The 38-year-old was pretty anonymous throughout, only making 15 touches during his 90 minutes on the pitch, completing seven passes and landing just one shot on goal – a tame effort from just outside the box.

Vardy will perhaps blame his teammates for not providing him with quality service but even journalist Josh Holland described the veteran as looking ‘way off it’ on X

Van Nistelrooy must use this as a reason to drop the striker for next Sunday’s trip to Tottenham, with two options available to the Dutchman.

Ruud van Nistelrooy needs to sign a striker this month

The only realistic replacement for Vardy is Patson Daka, and he was last picked for a starting lineup in the defeat to Liverpool.

Some think the Zambian deserves a shot at leading the line having appeared from the bench in the last four games, but he’s not someone who can set the world alight.

Daka has scored just 10 goals in 63 Premier League appearances, reaffirming his lack of clinical edge in the final third.

Instead, Van Nistelrooy must dip into the market to sign a striker. A quality one won’t come cheap, and with Leicester operating on a small transfer budget that could be a problem.

However, a return of just two goals in their last seven suggests the goals have dried up and unless they sign a clinical marksman, relegation is staring them straight in the face
