Rick Macci Defends Carlos Alcaraz And Reveals How Many Slams He Will Win
Carlos Alcaraz would be considered one of the best players of the new millennium even if his career ended today, having already collected four Grand Slams and five Masters 1000 (as well as being world number 1 for 36 weeks).
The peaks of the Spanish ace are truly impressive and – in the last twelve months – Carlitos is the only player who has shown that he can beat Jannik Sinner with some regularity. The world No.1 suffered just six defeats last season, three of which were against the 21-year-old from Murcia.
However, the main weakness of the 4-time Grand Slam champion remains consistency throughout the year. The current world number 3 has too many ups and downs, a problem linked in part to his very brilliant game full of magical solutions from every area of the court.
Alcaraz does not always make the right choice during matches and his concentration is not at its best at all times, unlike his top rival Sinner (who was able to play his best tennis despite the doping case that had hit him in March 2024).
Rick Macci defends Carlitos
The start of 2025 has confirmed this attitude of the Spaniard, who won the title in Rotterdam last month but somewhat disappointed expectations at the Australian Open and the Doha ATP 500 (stopping in the quarterfinals in both tournaments).
Through his official X profile, legendary coach Rick Macci confessed that he has no doubts about Carlitos’ future: “He has truly infinite potential and his best days have not yet arrived. The career of a professional tennis player is very long and is characterized by numerous ups and downs. Talent cannot be bought on the web and the Spaniard is really a generational talent who – barring injuries – can win more than ten Grand Slams.”
The former world No.1 is the top favorite in Indian Wells, where he has lifted the trophy in the last two editions thanks to sparkling tennis.
