Richarlison reactions consigning Timo Werner’s fate at spurs

Richarlison has sent a message to Timo Werner on Instagram after the striker’s first training session at Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

Timo Werner was officially announced as a new Tottenham player on Tuesday evening after completing a loan switch from RB Leipzig.

Spurs technical director Johan Lange was said to be a ‘key figure’ in the deal, while Ange Postecoglou also believes the striker will thrive in his system.

Werner’s switch to North London has certainly raised a few eyebrows after his underwhelming spell at Chelsea between 2020 and 2022.

The 27-year-old managed 44 goal contributions in 89 appearances for the Blues and has struggled for minutes this season after returning to Leipzig in 2022.

But after officially signing for Spurs on Tuesday evening, Werner was straight to work on the Hotspur Way pitches on Wednesday.

And his new teammate Richarlison has sent him a message after his first session in north London.

Werner took to Instagram on Wednesday evening and said it ‘felt good’ to get going at Spurs.

He wrote: “First day as a Spurs!!! It felt pretty good.”

Richarlison has enjoyed a decent run of form in recent weeks after breaking back into Postecoglou’s side.

The 26-year-old has netted five times in his last five Premier League appearances.

Of course, he will now face added competition for a place in the Aussie’s side after Werner’s arrival.

But with Heung-Min Son currently away at the Asian Cup, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the duo start alongside each other in attack.

While Werner’s two goals in eight league games for Leipzig this term aren’t exactly encouraging numbers, he does seem to be well-suited to Postecoglou’s style of play.

The German forward boasts exceptional pace and his tireless work ethic should go down well with Postecoglou.
