Revealed: Almiron could now leave Newcastle after extensive talks
Miguel Almiron could leave Newcastle United this summer, sources have told Football Insider.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that “a number of clubs” are expected to be interested in Almiron, 30, in the off-season.
The attacker was on the verge of a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab in the January transfer window, but the deal collapsed despite extensive negotiations.
It is believed that the Saudi outfit would not match Newcastle’s £30million valuation for the Paraguay international, so he remained on Tyneside.

However, clubs are expected to look at the forward as a potential target and the Magpies are set to accept an appropriate offer.
They are also expected to sanction player sales this summer amid fears that they could breach the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider (17 March) that Eddie Howe’s side will be forced to sell one of their biggest players this summer.
Despite nearing a move away from the North-West, Almiron has still been a mainstay for Newcastle having started 29 games in all competitions.
Across 41 total outings, the right-winger has bagged five goals and three assists but has not scored in the Premier League since December.
Newcastle sit eighth in the Premier League table after their 1-0 win at Craven Cottage against Fulham on Saturday (6 April).
They are back in action at St James’ Park this weekend (13 April) against Tottenham.
