REPORT;The second-highest paid player at Spurs may depart in the next few days.
Journalist George has claimed that there’s still a chance Ivan Perisic could leave Tottenham Hotspur before the end of this month’s transfer window.
Spurs have done some good business already, haven’t they? They’ve brought in Timo Werner on loan and Radu Dragusin on a permanent deal, while also getting Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier‘s wages off their books. Now, Perisic could leave too.
journalist report says ,Ivan Perisic could leave Tottenham this month
Tottenham signed Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer in the summer of 2022.
Since the Croatian cost nothing in terms of transfer fees, Spurs had to offer him big wages to convince him to join them. Daniel Levy sanctioned a £180,000-a-week contract (Netsport.uk).
The 34-year-old is now Tottenham’s second-highest-paid player, only captain Son Heung-min pockets a bigger salary at the club.
Perisic has had a torrid campaign due to injuries. He damaged his ACL in September, and there is a chance he will not return to action until next season.
Speaking about the Croatian, george said it’s ’99 per cent guaranteed’ that Perisic won’t play for Tottenham again. He also claimed that Perisic could leave before this month’s transfer window shuts.
He said on Kick: “My answer is no, I don’t think Ivan Perisic is going to play for Tottenham anymore in his career.
“Because of the injury, of course, but also because Hajduk Split are still dreaming of Ivan Perisic as January signing. So, they are going to push this week, next week, to make the deal happen.
“Hajduk want Ivan Perisic, so there is still a chance for Perisic to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window. But, in any case, it’s 99 per cent guaranteed that Ivan Perisic is not going to play for Tottenham anymore.”
Spurs should let him go
We think Ivan Perisic would’ve been a fantastic option for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham this season, especially over the last two months.
The Croatian is up there with the best crossers of the ball, and his versatility would’ve been really useful for Spurs had he been fit.
However, Perisic’s injury is a really serious one, and it makes no sense for Tottenham to keep him at the club until the end of the season.
The best thing would be to reach an agreement to terminate his contract and let him leave on a free transfer in the coming days.
