Report: What Eddie Howe’s relationship is now really like with Amanda Staveley at Newcastle

Newcastle United’s form has been struggling as of late and therefore the pressure has been piling on Eddie Howe after last year’s success.

Questions have now been asked about whether it’s time for Newcastle to move on and go for a big name manager to bring them success, but their owners have shown a lot of patience so far.

A new report from The Athletic claims that Howe still maintains a very positive relationship with co-owner Amanda Staveley who very recently described him as ‘exceptional‘.

Howe still has the backing of Newcastle’s owners

In the last few days it emerged that Newcastle were not looking to replace Howe ahead of the summer even if they did miss out on Europe which they are currently on track to do.

Both their form and performances have been very inconsistent lately, but that’s to be expected with so many players coming in and out of the team with injuries and suspensions making it difficult for Howe’s men to get into a rhythm.

The Chelsea result on Monday was really disappointing, especially when many thought they may have turned a corner in the win against Wolves, and then to lose Anthony Gordon to a knee injury was another huge blow.

But Staveley appreciates all of the factors that have gone on this season that have impacted the results on the pitch and are willing to give Howe more time to put things right in the next campaign.

Howe needs to have a strong start next year

Howe may have the complete backing of the board right now but things move quickly in football and Newcastle won’t want to be lingering around mid table in the Premier League for too long.

Their ambitions are to win titles and compete for trophies every season, so while there are fair excuses as to why Newcastle have underperformed compared to last season, at some point a change will have to be made.

The 46-year-old head coach will really be hoping that there is money to spend in the summer to invest in the quality of depth in the squad which has been exposed this season with an number of first-team options missing.

A few upgrades in certain positions and getting his injured and suspended players and then there really will be no excuses for him not to succeed with this group.
