REPORT: West Brown On A Top Rated Deal Before Transfer Window Deadline

West Brom have made an enquiry regarding the availability of Preston North End attacker Will Keane, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke on X.

West Brom are interested in the possibility of signing the striker between now and the end of the transfer window. They have until the deadline next Friday to conclude any incoming or outgoing bits of business.

Keane, 31, joined Preston last summer and has since scored 13 goals in 40 games in all competitions, as well as chipping in with three assists. His contract at Deepdale expires in June 2025 meaning they risk losing him for free next year.

In this latest update regarding his situation by journalist O’Rourke on X, the Stockport-born man has emerged on the radar of the Baggies as they eye some new additions. They won 3-1 away at QPR on the opening day before drawing 0-0 at home to Leeds United last time out

West Brom could see Keane as someone to add more competition and depth to their striking department.

They recently sold Brandon Thomas-Asante to fellow second tier side Coventry City so could do with some more options up top.

The five-times capped Republic of Ireland international rose up through the ranks at Manchester United and went on to played three times for the first-team at Old Trafford.

Keane was loaned out by the Premier League giants to Wigan Athletic, QPR, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston to get some experience under his belt.

Hull City lured him away from the Red Devils on a permanent basis back in 2016 after they were promoted. However, he struggled to make an impact in East Yorkshire and was sold to Ipswich Town.

He returned to Wigan Athletic in 2020 and was a hit during his second stint with the Latics, firing 50 goals in 128 matches before Preston came calling.

What next for West Brom target?

The Lilywhites would have a decision to make if an official bid came in for Keane.

They could see him go for nothing in 12 months if they don’t pick up a fee for him now or in January, assuming he doesn’t pen an extension anytime soon.

His future may depend on what their new manager Paul Heckingbottom decides to do with him. The former Barnsley, Leeds United and Sheffield United man has been chosen as their replacement for Ryan Lowe.
