Report: Relegation-threatened club have made late £30m bid to sign Nottingham Forest star
Nottingham Forest midfielder Orel Mangala could be the subject of a late bid from Ligue 1 strugglers Lyon.
This is according to L’Equipe.
So, what is the latest on Mangala and does his future lie at Forest? Let’s take a closer look…
Lyon want to sign Nottingham Forest star Orel Mangala
Well, it would appear as though the interest in Mangala isn’t going to cease until the transfer window has closed.
Earlier this month, it was claimed that Mangala had agreed personal terms with Napoli – although they’ve now moved on to other options.
Now, according to L’Equipe, Lyon have brought an offer of £30 million to the table for Forest to consider for Mangala.
It does feel, however, as though things might not be quite so clear-cut for Lyon when it comes to signing Mangala.
Evangelos Marinakis might demand more for Mangala and it remains to be seen how the club views this offer from Lyon.
Furthermore, the Napoli links made perfect sense with them still in the Champions League.
Not only are Lyon not playing in Europe but they could find themselves in the second tier next season with the club currently 16th in Ligue 1.
Mangala has been quality of late and Reds must mull this over
Time is running out and Forest have to weigh up what the best option is when it comes to Mangala.
On one hand, having £30 million into the pot would look excellent on the profitability and sustainability spreadsheet.
However, Mangala has just started to shine at Forest and losing him right now could be seriously detrimental.
Still, if Forest can recoup £30 million it could allow the club to head into the market on the final couple of days of the transfer window.
In our view, Forest would be wise to stand firm until the summer but now a sizeable offer is on the table, he club has a huge decision to make.
