Report: 49-year-old interviewed by Marinakis for Forest job now on Bayern Munich shortlist
Nottingham Forest wanted Oliver Glasner to replace Steve Cooper back in December and now he’s being chased by Bayern Munich.
This news comes from Bild.
So, what has been said about Forest-linked Glasner? Let’s take a closer look…
Nottingham Forest-linked Oliver Glasner wanted by Bayern Munich
Well, it seems as though the man who Forest looked at before appointing Nuno Espirito Santo is wanted by Bayern Munich.
According to Bild, the Austrian is on the shortlist as the Bavarian giants weigh up whether to part with Thomas Tuchel.
Bayern are five points adrift of top spot at the moment and their stranglehold on the Bundesliga appears to be slipping.
Forest-linked Glasner isn’t the only boss on the list with Joachin Low also down as a potential candidate.
Forest looked at the 49-year-old and placed him on a list of potential candidates to replace Steve Cooper.
However, it was claimed that Evangelos Marinakis chose not to appoint him after holding talks over the Forest job.
Instead, the Reds went for the tried and tested option. As for Glasner, he’s still awaiting the chance to get back into management.
Forest probably right to avoid Bundesliga expert
Glasner has had some success with Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg but Forest were probably right to steer clear of the manager.
At the time, the Reds clearly fancied someone with a little bit more Premier League experience and opted for Espirito Santo.
Glasner would have been a risk given that he’s got zero pedigree in the Premier League.
Forest are fighting to survive in the big league and hopefully, Espirito Santo can oversee a revival of sorts.
Glasner could now be rewarded for holding out on a new job, with one of the world’s biggest clubs considering an approach.
Will Forest be left to wonder what might have been with Glasner?
