Report shares how long Nuno Tavares will be missing for Forest
Well, this certainly isn’t ideal and with Ola Aina injured, it leaves Harry Toffolo as the only option at left-back.
On Saturday, Nuno Espirito Santo went with Moussa Niakhate in that position and as Ian Wright claimed, it made very little sense.
Now, The Telegraph have claimed that Tavares won’t be back for Forest for around four weeks after he sustained a thigh injury.
Tavares was just starting to get into his stride at Forest after a difficult start to life on loan from Arsenal.
He was barely making the matchday squad under Steve Cooper but Espirito Santo saw something in him.
Prior to Saturday’s game with Aston Villa, the defender had started four of the last five Premier League games.
In total, he’s made 11 appearances but must now sit on the sidelines and battle back from his latest injury.
Tavares running of time to prove himself at the City Ground
Regardless of what league Forest find themselves in next season, it’s hard to imagine Tavares being at the club.
Espirito Santo will almost certainly have a left-back in mind if the club stays in the Premier League with options in short supply.
Tavares joined the club from Arsenal and after scoring six times for Marseille last season, it was quite an exciting-looking transfer.
Ultimately, he’s failed to really prove himself, however, and now this is very mich a case of two steps back.
Tavares should return for the Forest run-in and it will now be very interesting to see what happens when he does return from this injury.
