Rangers to Lose Four, Birmingham Eyes Wright
Rangers are prepared to let Scott Wright leave Ibrox amid interest from Birmingham City, according to Chris Jack.
Writing via the Rangers Review (27 August), Jack reported that the Championship club are keen on a move for Wright after clinching the loan signing of Ben Davies.
In addition, youngsters Adam Devine, Leon King and Alex Lowry will all be allowed to leave Ibrox before the transfer deadline.
Rangers to allow Scott Wright to join Birmingham City?
It looks like it could be a busy few days at Ibrox before the transfer deadline. However, most of that activity looks as if it might be Ibrox outgoings, rather than incomings.
And it looks as if Wright is likely to be one of those outgoings. After Davies’ move to Birmingham City, it would make sense for Wright to follow in the defender’s footsteps.
The relationship between both clubs is clearly positive at this moment which could help any transfer negotiations.
As reported previously by Joshua Barrie via the Rangers Review (21 August), the Gers are keen to offload Wright, despite the 27-year-old having started three matches this season.
The forward hasn’t been the most effective signing since joining from Aberdeen, and with just one year remaining on his contract, now feels like the right time for Wright to move on.
However, time is against the Gers, and they will therefore hope that something materialises with Birmingham City.
In other Rangers news, Todd Cantwell could now leave the club permanently as an approach is made.
