Rangers star’s social media post inadvertently provides player’s injury status

Rangers defender Leon Balogun has let slip he’s back in training after a facial injury in a hilarious post involving Mohamed Diomande on Instagram.

The veteran Gers centre-back, 35, uploaded a clip of Mohamed Diomande at the club’s training centre wearing an Ivory Coast jersey in the changing rooms.

The 23-year-old Ivorian midfielder was celebrating his nation’s AFCON victory over Nigeria, for whom Leon Balogun has 46 international caps.

Leon Balogun confirms injury return

With ex-Rangers pair Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo involved in the final clash – which the Ivory Coast won 2-1 – Diomande was certainly testing Ibrox loyalties with the jersey.

But inadvertently Rangers defender Leon Balogun also announced that he was back on the training pitch following a nasty facial injury sustained against Livingston only a week ago.

“Look at this one,” said Balogun. “Just signed and he thinks he can mock me like that!

“Look at him. You’re getting no pass today from me, mate. Oh my God, he brought Twitter to the dressing room.

“This guy man, mamma mia. Yeah, enjoy it while you can still can bro. We’re training in a little bit and I’m back today, you know, bring your shinguards!”

Rangers commitment never in doubt

Rangers boss Philippe Clement confirmed that Leon Balogun had suffered a facial fracture after the defender went off injured in the first half against Livingston.

Claiming that the centre-back wouldn’t be out for too long – but would likely need to wear a protective mask – it appears Leon Balogun is already back in Ibrox training.

There isn’t much that can keep the German-born Nigerian international from turning out for Rangers and Leon Balogun really is fully committed to the Ibrox cause.

As for Mohamed Diomande, whilst he celebrates Ivory Coast’s AFCON victory, the midfielder has been talking up one Ibrox teammate.
