Todd Cantwell, a midfielder for Rangers, believes that Philippe Clement’s latest signings are competent enough.

During the most recent transfer window, the Belgian manager brought Oscar Cortes, Mohamed Diomande, and Fabio Silva to Ibrox.

Diomande’s loan move to the Gers will become permanent in the summer, while the other two players have joined on loan [Sky Sports, 1 February].

According to Cantwell, “I trust the recruitment team,” the Daily Record cited him. “I’m assuming the new signings are good enough because they got me!”

Since this was the manager’s first opportunity to make player acquisitions and sales since moving to Ibrox, Rangers fans may have been uncertain about what Clement would do during the winter transfer window.

The shortcomings of Michael Beale, his predecessor, are widely known, and his bad hiring practices were a major factor in his dismissal earlier this season.

Some of the nine players he brought to the club last summer have settled in well, but others haven’t, with Sam Lammers having already been moved on temporarily by Clement.

Jose Cifuentes could follow suit, while Clement also temporarily said goodbye to Adam Devine as he joined Motherwell for the rest of the season.

In terms of incomings, Rangers star Cantwell will now be helped out in midfield by Diomande following his loan from FC Nordsjaelland, while attackers Cortes and Silva have arrived from Lens and Wolves respectively.

After scoring his first goal for the team in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Livingston, Silva’s Ibrox career is now underway (3 February).
