Rangers anticipate another new signing within the next 48 hours, according to Ibrox insiders

Rangers expect to confirm the signing of Jefte from Fluminense in the next 48 hours, according to The Scottish Sun.

The outlet adds on its online edition [27 January] that no fresh bid has yet been lodged for current Gers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz.

Galatasaray are said to have had one previous bid knocked back for Ridvan and are now preparing a new offer.

The report read: “Gers sources insist no fresh bid from Galatasaray has been tabled for Ridvan Yilmaz.

“With Brazilian full-back Jefte expected to join Gers in the next 48 hours, the Turk has been heavily linked with a return home.

“Rangers have already rejected one bid from Galatasaray with the Turkish giants considering an improved offer.”

One in, one out?

Despite the uncertainty surrounding Ridvan, the Gers are pressing ahead to get this deal for Jefte over the line.

What is complicating matters, if you can call it that, is that the Brazilian is currently on loan at Cypriot side APOEL, who must agree to terminate that contract.

However, judging by this report, it sounds as though everything is on course to go through prior to next week’s deadline.

That then leaves the future of Ridvan, who started the 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday (27 January) in favour of Borna Barisic, up in the air.

The Gers clearly have a price in mind for the Turkey international, and they will not sell him until that figure is met by Galatasaray in full.

With the Gers not in action for another week, it will likely be that Jefte is in and Ridvan is gone by the time we host Livingston.
