Rangers winger Oscar Cortes has shared an injury update from hospital after going off against Kilmarnock.

The January arrival is now set for two months on the sidelines following the issue sustained in the 2-1 win at the end of February.

Cortes, who is on loan from French club Lens with an option to buy, was withdrawn by Philippe Clement in the 70th minute at Rugby Park, with the manager mentioning not long after that surgery was perhaps needed [BBC Sport, 2 March].

“Everything was a success thanks to God, we will be back soon,” Ibrox winger Cortes posted on Instagram.

Rangers suffer huge loss with Oscar Cortes injury

Cortes made the temporary switch to Ibrox in the recent transfer window alongside Fabio Silva and Mohamed Diomande, with all three immediately hitting the ground running at Ibrox.

But now Clement will have to cope without one of his recent recruits, with Cortes certain to spend a lengthy period off the pitch with his injury.

It will be hugely frustrating for the winger, whose future is undoubtedly on the line given his current deal between Lens and Rangers.

Fortunately, he remains upbeat despite the injury, although that will not be how Clement and many Gers fans are feeling.

They certainly could be doing with the exciting winger for a very tricky period, with the Scottish Premiership, Scottish Cup and Europa League all still to play for.
