Pundit asserts At Celtic, Brendan Rodgers is ‘not interested’ in developing players.

This is according to pundit Leanne Crichton who insists that the 50-year-old’s claims of “developing the players in the building” do not hold much weight given his recent team selections.

And she cited last week’s game over Buckie Thistle as a missed opportunity to give those on the fringes a chance.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: “I’m unsure if his actions match his words in that press conference today.

“You only need to go back as far as Sunday to the side that started against Buckie Thistle, which I don’t debate to a point because I think there’s a level of professionalism in treating that fixture with the respect it deserves, it’s off the back of the winter break and you’re looking to get back up to speed, fans are coming out and spending their money, they want to see the best players.

“I get it. But there was a lot of questions asked at the weekend as to why there was no players (from the start) ticking the boxes that Brendan Rodgers speaks about, development players, i.e. Rocco Vata comes off the bench, Daniel Kelly came on.

“You’ve got guys like Mikey Johnston still on the bench, David Turnbull doesn’t appear at all. Alexandro Bernabei doesn’t come on at all.

“Ralston, don’t see him. Greg Taylor has played virtually every game this season, plays the entire game so you don’t freshen things up there.

“I don’t see an awful lot of signs that Brendan Rodgers is really interested in developing players just now, which is fine but don’t come out and say one thing and then do something completely different.
