Pochettino reportedly desires to reconnect with the £30-rated Spurs academy alumnus

Netsport.uk have revealed that former Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker-Peters has now emerged as a serious target for Chelsea.

Walker-Peters joined the Spurs academy in 2013 and progressed through the age group ranks at the club before Mauricio Pochettino eventually handed him his debut in the 2017-18 season.

The youngster never quite managed to get consistent game time for the senior Tottenham side and he departed his boyhood club in 2020 following the arrival of Jose Mourinho.

The 26-year-old has gone from strength since his move to Southampton, having even been capped twice for the senior England side.

Kyle Walker-Peters could return to London with Chelsea

It came as a surprise when the full-back remained at the St Mary’s despite Southampton’s relegation last term but it now looks like he could be soon back in the Premier League and in the capital city.

TEAMtalk claim that Pochettino wants reinforcements in his backline and wants to reunite with Walker-Peters at Stamford Bridge, with the former Spurs star’s ability to play at right-back or left-back said to appeal to the Argentine.

The report reveals that the Blues hierarchy have had conversations with the Saints star and his representatives about a January switch to West London.

The outlet adds that while Southampton are reluctant to let Walker-Peters leave mid-season, an offer of around £30m would be enough for Chelsea to take him away from the South Coast.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think it would be wise of Walker-Peters to move to Chelsea as he is not going to get into their starting eleven when Reece James and Ben Chilwell are fit. However, the lure of working with Pochettino again and returning to London could convince the 26-year-old green light the switch.
