Nottingham Forest have been linked with Colombian striker Jhon Cordoba. The 30-year-old is said to be “an option to reinforce the attack” of the Reds, with Premier League rivals Crystal Palace also interested in the Krasnodar player, according to El VBar Caracol.

Colombia international Cordoba has scored 28 goals in 53 league games for Krasnodar after joining them from Hertha Berlin in July 2021. He previously enjoyed a prolific spell at Cologne, netting 33 times in 78 league games. He is said to be under contract with the Russian club until 2025.

It has been a quiet start to the January transfer window for the Reds with no new signings so far. However, the priority was always going to be overseeing outgoings as Nuno Espirito Santo has made clear his wish to work with a streamlined squad.

Nuno insists the fact the club have been charged with breaching Premier League Profitability and Sustainability rules (PSR) will not change their transfer plans, but he has admitted they need to tread carefully amid the threat of potential sanctions being imposed.

Asked about the impact of the charge on this month’s business, he said: “We know what we have to do. It’s not easy to find the right targets. It’s always about improving, so it’s not easy.”
