Nottingham Forest transfer news – 7 players linked with Reds as deadline day nears
The business end of the January transfer window is here. For Nottingham Forest, the approaching deadline means a busy few days ahead.
There will likely be more departures than arrivals at the City Ground before Thursday’s 11pm cut-off. The priority for the Reds is to trim numbers as head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has called for a smaller squad to work with.
But Forest do want to bring in a few key additions to bolster Nuno’s options. With a focus on quality over quantity, getting the right players in is crucial.
“We need more options. What I said to you some time ago is that we are trying to find the profile of player we would like. We want players who will give us something different to what we already have,” Nuno has said.
“That is the hard part of it. To bring in players who will offer something in different situations in the team.”
Bringing in attacking reinforcements is at the top of the club’s agenda. It is an area where the Reds lack strength in depth and where they have been hit particularly hard by injuries.
Meanwhile, Forest seem to have had a change of heart over the goalkeeper situation. They had intended to stick with Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos for the rest of the season, but could now bring in another shot-stopper before the window closes.
The final days of the window will likely see plenty of twists and turns. We take a look at some of the players linked with the Reds as deadline day looms.
