Newcastle very keen on raiding EPL rivals for 22-year-old powerhouse

As we ease slowly into the business end of the 2023/24 Premier League season thoughts will already be turning to the summer transfer window for many clubs, with Newcastle arguably needing to upgrade in certain positions to ensure a marked improvement on the current campaign.

The Magpies have been beset by injuries to key players throughout the season, and a lack of solid strength in depth has hampered their attempts to claw themselves up the Premier League table.

Regardless of how the current season ends up for the club, there’s some certainty to the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) handing Eddie Howe the financial tools in the summer to strengthen the squad.

With one eye on Financial Fair Play, it’s entirely possible that some high-profile players may need to be sold to balance the books, but they will still need to be replaced.

Joelinton is out injured until the end of the season and the marauding Brazilian could be one of the players sacrificed.

That would potentially explain Newcastle’s interest in Everton’s 22-year-old powerhouse midfielder, Amadou Onana.

According to Football Insider, the club have compiled extensive scouting reports on the player and are expected to firm up any initial interest in due course.
