Newcastle players have now taken action after seriously disappointing Chelsea defeat

The Newcastle United players do not have time to feel sorry for themselves after their defeat to Chelsea.

Eddie Howe’s team were massively disappointing at Stamford Bridge, while the Newcastle manager also got his tactics wrong. It resulted in a 3-2 defeat that leaves the Magpies 10th in the Premier League.

Newcastle have become something of a soft touch, and that was very evident against Chelsea. The first goal was incredibly sloppy, and it set the tone for a really underwhelming night in the capital.

It was a tough night on the road, and now Newcastle have an even more challenging prospect on the horizon. The Magpies’ next game is away to Manchester City in the FA Cup, with a place in the semi finals on the line.

Eddie Howe‘s side will go into the game as underdogs, and the cup tie will be even tougher after what happened at Stamford Bridge. But the players have already taken action, as they reflect on what went wrong against Chelsea.

What the Newcastle players have now done after Chelsea loss

According to the Chronicle, the Newcastle players have held a ‘mini inquest’ after the 3-2 loss to Chelsea, having returned to training on Tuesday.

The Chronicle state that there was an acceptance from some of the squad that all three of Chelsea’s goals were avoidable, and that the defensive errors they made can be rectified in time to face Manchester City on Saturday.

That is going to be easier said than done, as Man City have a lot more quality than Chelsea. They have the talent to cut us open, whereas all three of Chelsea’s goals came from individual errors.

Similar sloppiness will be punished again at the Etihad Stadium, on a night that will define Newcastle’s season.

The FA Cup is massive for the Magpies, and they have been handed the most difficult fixture possible. Not only that, but it comes immediately after a worrying performance.

But the Newcastle players have held a meeting to discuss that performance, and they will soon have a chance to rectify their mistakes.
