Newcastle officials Set On U-turn For What Happen On Sunday
The Magpies have been planning for a bit of an overhaul to their squad this summer, with Eddie Howe aiming to take the club to the next level. He will get that honour, with the owners eager to keep him at St James’ Park
They adore the work that Howe is doing on Tyneside, and he is contracted to the club until 2027 – despite there being lots of rumours about him being replaced.
Newcastle are planning for a future with Howe, while they are also planning how to attack the summer transfer window.
It could be a summer of change for the Magpies, with Alan Shearer recently admitting that they need four top quality signings to finish in the top four again and qualify for the Champions League. That will be Newcastle’s aim, having had a taste of Europe’s elite competition this season.
A new right winger has been on Newcastle’s agenda, while they also want to sign a striker. On top of that, a centre-back arrival is planned, as well as a left-back.
However, recent events at Newcastle United mean that Toon officials may suddenly be tweaking their transfer plans ahead of the summer window
Newcastle set for amend summer transfer window plans
In recent weeks, Newcastle have lost two centre-backs to serious injuries. Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles are both out for up to nine months, after suffering respective ACL injuries.
And, according to the Athletic, that could lead to a re-think in the transfer market.
They report that the club are going to have to take a fresh look at their summer transfer plans and possibly amend them following the recent injuries to Botman and Lascelles. However, the Athletic add that Toon officials are still yet to determine definitive transfer targets for next season.
Injuries could disrupt Newcastle again next season
Newcastle definitely need one centre-back this summer, but Lascelles’ injury might mean they need two.
