Newcastle now want to sign in-demand £12.8m winger, Euro giants ready to sel

Newcastle United are reportedly looking to sign a new winger in the summer window.

The Magpies have gone through a disappointing 2023-24 season, but their fall from grace is mainly down to their horrendous luck with injuries. Eddie Howe’s side has lost several key players for most of the season, affecting the performance (and results).

Newcastle will look to bolster their squad next summer, but they could be forced to spend sensibly due to the Premier League’s PSR threat. There are even suggestions that the Magpies may need to offload some of their star players to comply with the rules and free up space for new arrivals.

Signing a top-quality midfielder, a centre-back, and a goalkeeper should be their primary objective. The Magpies could also look to add more quality to their forward areas if it fits their budget.

According to a report from Tutto Juve, Newcastle are among a host of Premier League clubs showing keen interest in Juventus winger Samuel Iling-Junior.

Newcastle shift their transfer policy

The Magpies are likely to face competition from other Premier League clubs like Everton and Tottenham Hotspur. Juventus are willing to offload the 20-year-old who has a contract at the Turin club until 2025.

He has a price tag of £12.8m and Newcastle should be able to meet that amount. He has made two starts in the Serie A this season, and another 16 appearances have come from the bench. Iling-Junior has managed one goal and two assists in the Serie A thus far.

With the PSR threat looming large, Newcastle probably could look to take a punt on exciting young players who can represent the club for years to come rather than spending big on established players.

Juventus are expected to make wholesome changes to their squad next summer and young Iling-Junior could be heading towards the exit door.

In other Newcastle news, the Magpies are in hunt to sign £85m attacking midfielder next summer.
