Ipswich Town boss Kieran McKenna has emerged as a prime managerial candidate amid interest from several Premier League clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United, and Brighton. McKenna, who is 38 years old, has gained significant experience through his managerial stints with the U18 sides at Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. He transitioned to the first-team coaching staff at Manchester United following the departure of Jose Mourinho.

McKenna took a bold step at the end of 2021 by leaving Manchester United to become the head coach of Ipswich Town, who were then struggling in League One. Under his guidance, Ipswich underwent a remarkable transformation, achieving back-to-back promotions and securing a place in the Premier League. This impressive feat has attracted the attention of several top-tier clubs.

Brighton initially showed interest in McKenna following the departure of Roberto De Zerbi.

However, the managerial carousel in the Premier League has now seen Chelsea and Manchester United also considering McKenna for their respective roles. Chelsea are seeking a new manager after parting ways with Mauricio Pochettino, while Manchester United are contemplating a change with reports suggesting Erik ten Hag might be dismissed following the FA Cup final against Manchester City.

Despite the interest from these high-profile clubs, McKenna’s ‘No.1 preference’ remains uncertain. His recent success with Ipswich Town has certainly elevated his profile, making him a sought-after candidate in the Premier League managerial market. Whether he decides to stay with Ipswich to continue building on his achievements or take on a new challenge at one of these illustrious clubs remains to be seen.
